How to Plan a Vacation on a Budget

Being on vacation doesn't always have to cost an arm and a leg. You can plan your vacation a budget with these tips!

Budget travel has its perks. You get to experience the vacation without breaking the bank. If you make sure you travel at the perfect time, create a budget and itinerary beforehand, and do proper research you can save tons!

Travel off Season

This goes as follows, go to the tropical vacation in the winter. Go to the known for snow cities in the summer. Like Florida in the fall and Colorado in the summer. Pro tips: Visit Vegas during the week instead of the weekend.

When you go off-season the prices are surprisingly lower. You can save hundreds and still get to experience the beauty and hype of your desired city, without the crowds and outrageous prices.

Plan your Trip Budget & Start Saving

Planning your trip can go pretty deep, so be prepared to have the basics down pack. For example, what is your spending budget for the hotel? How much are you willing to spend on car rentals or ubers? And of course what's the budget for the eating out! Set your daily budget beforehand.

Once you have those factors established, your next step is to start saving! Turn off any subscriptions that you don't necessarily need. Put aside a certain amount from every paycheck to go toward your trip. By the time you know it you'll have half the trip saved up already!

Research Flights & Be Flexible

Finding flights can seem intimidating but when you really get the flow of things, you'll be finding savings in no time. Going on sites like Kayak and Google flights can help you with this but being flexible is key.

Having flexibility can help you get amazing rates on flights. Having specific dates in mind can possibly have higher prices.

Research Budget-friendly places to eat

Research the area you are going to be in and the local bites. If you already know what to expect and what the prices ranges are it takes a huge burden off your shoulders. Way better than trying to figure things out on the spot.

If you are figuring out on the spot, go with the 6 block rule. Anywhere there is a major tourist site make sure you eat at least 6 blocks away. They jack up the prices when you are closer to these landmarks or tourist destinations so make sure you take a walk.

Also, try getting advice from a local. They will always know the best places and cheapest places to grab a bite to eat.

Create an itinerary

Creating an itinerary can help for so many reasons. When you have an itinerary and you know exactly what you are planning to do every day on vacation. This helps you budget out each accordingly.

In turn you know a rough estimate of how much each day will cost you and how to much to save for. You already have an eating and spending budget, so the itinerary will put everything together in a perfect bow.
